Drawings of Suns | Jacob Dwyer

In the context of Every Loft Needs a Sink, curator of the exhibition, Root Canal, invited artist Jacob Dwyer, one of the artists in the show, to organise a screening program. Three of his video works were shown, among which his most recent Drawings of Suns. The screening was followed by a talk and a Q&A with the artist and curator.

Synopsis:
Drawings of Suns documents an innocuous family outing to a defunct radio station in the middle of the Netherlands (Radio Kootwijk). As the day spills out into the surrounding sand dunes a voice behind the lens expounds on a previous experience held three years earlier in the same location. Through a conscious attempt to merge the two, we witness a desire for resolve, whilst bubbling underneath, the complex dynamics of the artists family play out.

Series

From time to time Vleeshal invites guest curators to organize exhibitions in the Vleeshal or to develop other projects. By doing so, we aim to welcome new perspectives and contribute to talent development.
