As winner of the 2018 Vleeshal Art Prize, Pieter Slagboom worked on a series of ten monumental drawings for his solo exhibition at Vleeshal in 2019, titled As Long As the Potatoes Grow, curated by Julia Geerlings.
The drawings are each made with pencil on linen and are 300 x 500 centimeters. Individual titles of the works are: Arched, Penetration, Questioning Geometry, Scent, Pushing against Dying Head, There and Here, Sole of the Feet, Just like Us, Two Dying Heads and Life and Death.
Vleeshal is an internationally oriented center for contemporary art, rooted in Zeeland. In Zeeland Focus, Vleeshal highlights regional artists, takes part in and celebrates local contemporary art and culture.
From time to time Vleeshal invites guest curators to organize exhibitions in the Vleeshal or to develop other projects. By doing so, we aim to welcome new perspectives and contribute to talent development.
