Help, contemporary art! 2018 | Julia Mullié

Four times a year, Vleeshal organises an activity for its loyal members – inside or outside the exhibition space – that revolves around contemporary art. The annual crash course Help, contemporary art!, focusses on the matter of looking at contemporary art. Often, people feel uncomfortable with contemporary art, as they feel as though they do not understand it. Yet, 'not understanding' does not have to be a problem. Asking questions is something contemporary artists often aim at; questions that have multiple answers.

On Friday July 13, Julia Mullié gave a crash course on looking at contemporary art through an introductionary presentation and the group show Paranoid House in Vleeshal. Julia Mullié guided our Friends along recent developments in contemporary art and the works on view by Anders Dickson, Philipp Gufler, Henna Hyvärinen, Becket Mingwen and Sophie Serber to discuss questions such as "what do I see?" or "what do I associate this work with?".
