On the Thursday before Keti Koti you could join us for the film screening of the series De Nazaten (Dutch for ‘the descendants’) at Vleeshal. This series is made by Fifi Visser and André van der Hout and dives into the history of slavery in Zeeland and how this impacts various generations. Descendants of enslaved people, as well as the descendants of involved slaveholders, tell their stories.

The series De Nazaten consists of six short episodes and was aired at Omroep Zeeland in May 2024. Especially for Keti Koti, the celebration of the abolition of slavery on July 1, Vleeshal showed this series on Thursday, June 27.

After the screening, there was an after-talk with Fifi Visser and the public.

This series was commissioned by Omroep Zeeland and in cooperation with the Zeeuws Archief.
