Other than a normal exhibition catalogue, this book contains a collection of authonomous contributions by 14 contemporary Dutch artists who where invited by curator Lorenzo Benedetti to take part in the exhibition ‘Autumn of Modernism’ at De Vleeshal, Middelburg. The contributions stand out by their simpleness and express an attitude of those artists to tell their stories with little means and therefore respond in an indirect way to the social changes of our day, such as the present economic crisis.
